DO THE TRUMP was created in the fall of 2024 during the presidential campaign as I watched in bewilderment, "amazed", as former President Trump performed his now-famous lost-in-outer-space jig to YMCA. I was so amused that I 'just' had to write a campaign song about it. As I crafted the lyrics, the dance melody, da.. da.. da..- da.. da.. da, played in my head over and over. After finishing the lyrics, I filed it away until spring. When I revisited it, I realized the lyrics were a call for change, an inspiration to "stand up today" for our freedom, liberty, and democracy. It turned out to be more than just a fun song to accompany a dance; sometimes it just takes a little time for a message to reveal itself.
